What’s your job and what do you do?
I am a Senior Concept Artist at the studio – I mainly do environments, helping give shape to this exciting new world we’re creating!
What is your most treasured possession?
Currently… My blender I guess? It has really proved itself worthy of taking up precious real estate in my small kitchen this past summer. Hit me up if you want a recipe for a mango-passionfruit smoothie.
As a dev, it’s really, really important to make sure you take some time for yourself and rest up, even when times are busy. Or rather – especially when times are busy!
What is your desktop wallpaper?
A still from In the Mood for Love, I love that movie.
What is top of your bucket list?
Eating every type of noodle through East and Southeast Asia. When I think about how many delicious things there are out there that I haven’t eaten yet, my heart gets filled with eagerness and a also tiny bit of stress.
What is the best kept secret in Stockholm?
Carl Eldhs Ateljémuseum. It’s a small museum in Bellevue Park that served as a studio for the sculptor Carl Eldh. Entering the building feels like you’re being transported to a different world, with its large windows casting a soft light into the rooms, and sculptures of all sizes minding their own business as you walk across the wooden floors.
Strangest thing about living in Sweden?
How some of us insist on sitting outside having our fika even though it’s below 10 degrees. Why? Why?! The cafe has plenty of seats indoors!
If you could remake one game, what would it be?
FFVIII. I would remake the tedious draw magic-system that messed with the pacing and then leave it be.
What’s your favourite thing about the project you’re working on?
I get to sit down and design things in a way that I haven’t done before – and people are open to and encouraging of it! That’s really fun for a concept artist.
What’s your top tip for people looking to get into the industry?
Put yourself out there – regardless of which discipline you’re interested in. It’ll help you grow being with others who are also in the same craft.
What did you want to be when you were growing up?
A manga artist, since I grew up reading it. Later, some family members and I actually had a manga studio and we even got published here in Sweden! So it kind of happened?
If you could edit your past, what would you change?
I’d learn more about fundamentals in art earlier on, maybe even go to school for that, to learn things properly. It’s so hard getting rid of bad habits later on!
Alive or dead, who would you most like to sit down with for a meal?
Jonathan van Ness seems nice. I feel like they’d give me really good life advice over a piece of expensive-but-delicious-toast and perhaps they could give me a cute haircut while we’re at it too
